Brief biographical note

Tiago Miguel Ferreira was born on March 15, 1986, in Coimbra, Portugal and grew up in Leiria, city where he lived until 2004 when he moved to Aveiro to graduate in Civil Engineering from University of Aveiro (2008). In July 2009, he completed a MSc degree and started working as a research fellow in a joint project with University of Aveiro, University of Coimbra and Seixal City Council dedicated to the seismic and fire risk assessment of the old urban centres of Seixal, an experience that shaped his interest for the protection and safeguard of architectural heritage against natural and man-made hazards. In December 2010 he earned a degree in Advanced Studies in Rehabilitation of Built Heritage from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), and in February 2011, after a brief period at ROSE School, Italy, to attend a course on the Seismic Design, Assessment and Strengthening of Masonry Structures, he started his PhD works under the topic of the out-of-plane seismic performance of stone masonry walls. In January 2015, he concluded his PhD,  unanimously approved with praise and distinction, and took up his first post-doc position at the Aveiro research centre of RIsks and Sustainability in COnstruction (RISCO). Then in October 2016 he moved to University of Minho to join the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE), where he presently works as a post-doc researcher funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Currently Tiago Miguel Ferreira is Associate Editor of Conservar Património, a SCOPUS and Web-of-Science indexed journal dedicated to heritage studies.
